In a significant development, Delhi Police have foiled an assassination attempt on stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, arresting two members of the notorious Goldy Brar gang. The suspects were apprehended following a gunfight on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road in Delhi on October 2, 2025. The arrested individuals, identified as Rahul and Sahil, are believed to have been acting on orders from gang leaders based abroad, including Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar.
Investigations reveal that the assassination plot was allegedly orchestrated due to Faruqui’s comedic content, which some individuals found offensive. The gang reportedly targeted Faruqui to assert their influence in celebrity circles and gain notoriety. Prior to the Delhi incident, the shooters had conducted reconnaissance in Mumbai and Bengaluru, attempting to track Faruqui’s movements. In one instance, they reportedly waited outside an event venue in Bengaluru but were unable to execute their plan as Faruqui departed in a different vehicle.
Following the exchange of gunfire, the police seized firearms and a motorcycle from the scene. Rahul, who sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter, was previously wanted in connection with a triple murder case in Yamunanagar, Haryana, in December 2024. Both individuals are now facing multiple charges, including attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.
This incident underscores the growing concern over the involvement of organized crime syndicates in targeting public figures. The Goldy Brar gang, in particular, has been linked to several high-profile cases, including the assassination of singer Sidhu Moosewala. Authorities are intensifying efforts to dismantle such criminal networks and ensure the safety of individuals in the entertainment industry.
The swift action by Delhi Police has prevented a potential tragedy and highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by organized crime. As investigations continue, law enforcement agencies are committed to bringing all responsible parties to justice and reinforcing the security of public figures
