Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sharpened his political messaging ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections by launching a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress. Addressing a rally in Bihar, Modi questioned the governance record of both parties, accusing them of promoting corruption, dynastic politics, and underdevelopment during their time in power.
His remarks are seen as an early push to energize the BJP’s base and mark key battleground issues.
Modi’s speech touched upon several themes that are likely to dominate the election narrative. He highlighted the BJP-led government’s work in areas such as infrastructure, welfare schemes, and law and order, contrasting them with what he called the “jungle raj” of previous regimes.
He said that the people of Bihar had already “seen the damage” caused by RJD and Congress, and urged voters not to repeat the “mistakes of the past.”
The Prime Minister laid special emphasis on Tier 2 and rural regions of Bihar, mentioning cities like Gaya, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga, where he said real development had taken root only after BJP came to power. He pointed to improved road connectivity, electricity access, and housing under central schemes like PM Awas Yojana as examples of the NDA’s performance.
These remarks are seen as an attempt to win over semi-urban voters who form a large and decisive part of Bihar’s electorate.
The RJD and Congress have hit back, accusing the BJP of trying to divert attention from inflation, unemployment, and agricultural distress. RJD leaders called Modi’s speech an attempt to “rewrite history” and ignore the real issues affecting Biharis today.
Congress leaders said the BJP had failed to provide enough jobs and that Bihar’s youth had grown disillusioned with empty promises.
Though official dates for the Bihar elections are yet to be announced, political activity in the state is heating up. Modi’s speech signals the BJP’s intent to frame the contest around development versus dynasty — a strategy it has used successfully in other states.
Expect more rallies, digital outreach, and social media campaigns from all parties in the weeks to come.
Prime Minister Modi’s sharp critique of the RJD and Congress sets the tone for what is expected to be a highly charged Bihar Assembly election. With development, identity, and past governance records all on the table, the upcoming polls will be closely watched — not just in Patna, but across India. For Tier 2 cities and young voters in particular, this election could shape the course of Bihar’s future for years to come
