Delhi High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Actor Ajaz Khan in Social Media Case

Ajaz Khan, known for his appearance on Bigg Boss, has been granted anticipatory bail by the Delhi High Court in a case involving objectionable social media posts. The posts, directed at YouTuber Harsh Beniwal and his family, led to an FIR filed by the Delhi Police’s Cyber Police Station.

The court, led by Justice Ravinder Dudeja, emphasized the importance of exercising caution when posting content online, especially for individuals with significant social media influence. The judge noted that freedom of speech must be balanced with the right to dignity, and content that crosses into insult or humiliation infringes upon this right.

As part of the bail conditions, Khan is required to furnish a personal bond of ₹30,000 with one surety of the same amount. Additionally, he must surrender his passport to the investigating officer and is prohibited from leaving the country without prior permission from the trial court. Khan has also agreed to cooperate with the investigation, including providing his voice sample to the Forensic Science Laboratory.

This case highlights the growing scrutiny of online content and the legal implications of social media posts that may harm individuals’ reputations. It serves as a reminder of the need for responsible digital communication, particularly for public figures with large followings.

For residents of Tier-2 cities, this incident underscores the reach and impact of social media, emphasizing the importance of mindful online behavior to avoid legal complications.
