Four Bihar-Based Criminals Killed in Delhi Police Encounter

A joint operation by Delhi and Haryana Police ended in a deadly encounter on Thursday morning, resulting in the deaths of four Bihar-based criminals. The incident took place near the Delhi-Haryana border when police teams intercepted a vehicle carrying the gang members, who were allegedly involved in multiple robbery and extortion cases across states.

According to officials, the criminals opened fire on the police team when they were asked to surrender. In response, the police retaliated, leading to a brief but intense exchange of gunfire. All four accused were shot dead on the spot. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the vehicle, and forensic teams reached the location soon after to collect evidence.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the gang had been operating in Delhi-NCR for months, targeting businessmen and transporters for extortion. The men were reportedly on the run from Bihar Police and had been hiding in the outskirts of Delhi under fake identities.

Senior officers confirmed that the encounter was the result of coordinated intelligence sharing between Delhi Police’s Special Cell and Haryana Police. Surveillance and tracking efforts had been underway for several days before the final operation was executed.

Family members of the deceased have been informed, and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered as per protocol in police encounter cases. Authorities have stated that detailed ballistic and post-mortem reports will determine the sequence of events.

The operation highlights growing inter-state coordination among police forces to tackle organized crime. However, it also renews the debate on police encounters and accountability, an issue that continues to divide public opinion across the country.
