Heavy Rainfall Alerts Across Eastern and Northeastern India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall across multiple states, including West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya. The alert highlights potential flooding, landslides, and travel disruptions, urging residents and travelers to exercise caution over the next few days. Fishermen along the east coast have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.

Eastern and northeastern states are likely to experience persistent monsoon activity, with heavy rainfall expected in isolated areas of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, and Bihar. In hilly regions like Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and parts of Meghalaya, landslides remain a risk, while low-lying urban areas may face localized flooding. States such as Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh could also see rain-related disruptions.

Odisha is forecast to receive significant rainfall across several districts, and rough sea conditions are anticipated along the east coast, affecting Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal. In southern India, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka will witness widespread showers with localized heavy downpours. Northern states, including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, may experience light to moderate rainfall, while Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab could record occasional heavy spells.

The IMD advises residents to plan travel carefully, avoid unnecessary journeys, and follow safety and traffic advisories to mitigate risks from the ongoing heavy rainfall. These conditions are expected to persist for the next three to four days, varying in intensity across regions.
