IKEA Debuts in Delhi: 15,000 sq ft City Store Opens in Pacific Mall

IKEA India has launched its first physical store in Delhi, opening a 15,000 sq ft city-format outlet at West Delhi’s Pacific Mall, Tagore Garden. The store showcases over 2,000 home furnishing products, with around 800 items available for immediate purchase. This move brings IKEA closer to urban consumers and marks a new phase in its strategy to blend online convenience with accessible in-store experience.

The Pacific Mall store follows IKEA’s entry into North India’s e-commerce landscape in March. It’s part of a broader omnichannel approach combining large-format stores, city outlets, online shopping, and plan-and-order points—offering Delhiites the flexibility to browse in-store and order larger items online.

Compact Format, Big Impact

Unlike sprawling IKEA megastores, the new store is designed for urban space efficiency. The “city store” caters to high-footfall locations, giving customers a chance to touch, feel, and plan purchases without needing to visit larger outlets in Gurugram or Noida in the future.

The concept has worked well elsewhere—Mumbai’s Worli city store opened in 2021 at around 80,000 sq ft. Now, Delhi’s Pacific Mall outlet becomes the second compact format in India, aiming to deepen IKEA’s presence in densely populated capital markets.

What’s Inside the Store

Shoppers will find 2,000 products on display, with 800 items in stock. Others can be ordered directly and delivered via the local distribution centre in Farrukhnagar. The space also includes room mock-ups, digital design tools, and on-site consultants to help plan kitchens and wardrobes

In keeping with IKEA tradition, a Swedish café is part of the experience—offering vegetarian hot dogs, meatballs with lingonberry sauce, cinnamon buns, and more. The food section aims to enhance the customer experience while honoring brand identity.

Connecting Delhi and Beyond

The Pacific Mall outlet supports IKEA’s “One Click, 30 Minutes Away” model—meaning urban customers can place orders online and receive delivery swiftly from the recently launched Farrukhnagar distribution hub.

Larger-format stores are already planned for Gurugram and Noida, expected to mirror full-scale IKEA experiences. These will offer broader ranges and deeper services, complementing the city store in West Delhi.

Relevance for Tier 2 Cities

For Delhi-adjacent Tier 2 cities like Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Meerut, this launch signals IKEA’s broader strategy.
