Legal Action Initiated Against TVK Functionaries Following Campaign Violations in Trichy

During Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President and actor Vijay’s campaign tour “Unga Vijay, Naa Varen” in Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts, several violations occurred, leading to police action against party functionaries. In Nagapattinam, large crowds gathered to see Vijay, causing safety issues; a wall at a community hall in Velankanni collapsed as supporters climbed it, prompting a complaint from the hall’s administration. The police, under SP S Selvakumar, registered cases against TVK members. In Tiruvarur, police, directed by SP Karun Garud, booked party workers under the Tamil Nadu Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act for installing unauthorized digital banners. Authorities are considering further legal responses for other campaign breaches. Additionally, a migrant worker named Santhosh from Maharashtra was arrested in Nagapattinam for snatching a gold chain from a woman during the rally. He was caught and beaten by supporters before being handed over to the police, though his accomplices remain at large and the chain is yet to be recovered.

Conclusion
The incidents during Vijay’s campaign highlight the challenges of managing large public events and the importance of adhering to legal and safety protocols. The actions taken by the police underscore the commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring that political activities do not disrupt the community. As the situation develops, further updates are expected regarding the legal proceedings and any additional measures to prevent such occurrences in future campaigns.
