Mumbai Monorail Faces Another Glitch: Passengers Evacuated Amid Ongoing Operational Challenges

Mumbai’s monorail service encountered another disruption on Monday morning when a train halted near Wadala due to a technical issue. This incident marks the second such occurrence in less than a month, raising concerns about the system’s reliability and operational efficiency.

At approximately 7:16 AM, a monorail train traveling towards Wadala came to an unexpected stop between the Antop Hill Bus Depot and GTB Nagar stations. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) reported that the train experienced a “minor power supply issue.” Fortunately, there were no casualties, and all 17 passengers onboard were safely evacuated and transferred to another train.

Previous Disruptions:
This incident follows a similar event in August, when a monorail train stalled between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations during heavy rainfall. The overcrowding during that time led to an overload, causing a power failure and stranding 582 passengers for nearly four hours.
