Nimbus Café Raided Again; FIR Filed Against Owner for Hookah Service

Nagpur police carried out a late-night raid on July 24, 2025, at Nimbus Café & Lounge in the Gokulpeth area, under the jurisdiction of Ambazari Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence indicating continued illegal hookah service inside the establishment, authorities swooped in and found multiple customers actively smoking hookah. They seized several hookah pots, flavored tobacco pouches, and related paraphernalia. An FIR was immediately filed against the café owner, Sameer Shaikh.

This isn’t the first time Nimbus has come under scrutiny. It’s been raided in the past for similar offences, yet hookah service reportedly resumed despite prior warnings.

Police officials noted that the café was functioning beyond permitted hours and had garnered a reputation as a hangout for affluent young women and groups involved in periodic altercations. These repeated violations have raised serious concerns about public safety and law and order.

What this really means is that repeated non-compliance is unlikely to be tolerated any longer. Police are now considering tougher enforcement, potentially including permanent closure and sealing of the premises, to ensure the state’s hookah ban is respected.
