Rahul Gandhi Sidesteps Question on Tejashwi Yadav as CM Face Amid Bihar Yatra

During a joint press conference in Araria, Bihar, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was asked why the party has not endorsed Tejashwi Yadav as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming state elections. Gandhi chose not to directly address the question, instead focusing on the unity within the opposition alliance and the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’.

The ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, launched by Gandhi, aims to mobilize public support against what the opposition describes as “vote theft” through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Gandhi accused the Election Commission of siding with the BJP, alleging that the SIR process is an institutionalized method of removing legitimate voters. He emphasized that the alliance’s focus is on ensuring fair elections and upholding democratic values, rather than on individual leadership positions.

While the question about Tejashwi Yadav’s endorsement remains unanswered, Gandhi’s response highlights the opposition’s strategy of presenting a united front and prioritizing electoral integrity over internal leadership discussions. This approach may resonate with voters in Tier 2 cities, where concerns about electoral fairness and transparency are significant.

As the election date approaches, the opposition’s emphasis on unity and electoral reforms could influence public perception, potentially strengthening their position in the upcoming polls
